Software Tester for YouthNet (volunteer, remote/on-site, min 6 hours/week)

YouthNet is developing the latest version of our V-Base software, version 3. V-Base is the UK’s leading software for volunteering management. Developed by YouthNet in partnership with volunteering agencies, V-Base is a Windows based, easy to learn and use application. It has a range of tools to help you manage your volunteering programme and is the only software that enables you to post your opportunities directly to the do-it.org.uk database of volunteering opportunities.

We are looking for a Volunteer Software Tester, responsible for improving the quality assurance of V-Base 3. This opportunity is open to people who are looking for a way into or have an interest in software testing.

The role

You will communicate directly with our QA team and software developers ensure that new issues are reported and documented correctly, and fixes are fully tested. You don’t need to be a software engineer yourself and you don’t need skills in coding since you are testing from the view of the user.

You will be expected to install and test prototype versions of V-Base to your home computer if you decide to work remotely. This will require your computer to meet our minimum requirements.

Your Profile

  • Ideally, you have some relevant experience in software testing (automated and manual)
  • You work very precisely and have a great attention for details
  • Good communication and written skills.
  • You are totally dedicated to your job, work 100% self motivated and commit at least 6 hours a week.
  • Knowledge or experience of Agile testing, also the previous use of Jira will be an advantage although not necessary as full training will be provided.

Additional Information

  • Location: within London/South East and be able to come to our London office for a 1 day induction.
  • Minimum time involvement: 6 hours per week
  • This is a volunteer position.
  • Commitment Length: minimum 6 months, preferably long-term
  • Expenses (travel and lunches) covered when in the office
